What is an "ABT"?
“ABT” stands for asset-backed token. Each individual token represents one fine troy ounce of a metal bar, stored in professional vault facilities. Anyone who owns an ABT has ownership rights to that metal. Since ABTs represent a specific metal, the token’s value is tied directly to the real-time market value of that physical metal.
ABTs provide customers the benefits of owning physical metals, with the speed and mobility of owning a digital asset. Customers are able to gain fractional ownership of physical bars of metal.
Сustomers can convert their tokens to allocated metal, or fiat currency (and vice versa) quickly and efficiently, reducing their exposure to settlement risk.
How can I purchase an ABT?
ABTs will be available for trading on U.S. regulated exchanges. As the token issuer, Symbridge is responsible for the metal custody, tokenization and distribution.
More information will be available in the future.
What is the benefit of owning physical assets on a blockchain?
Physical allocated metals on the blockchain represent legal ownership of physical assets without the drawbacks of limited transportability or high storage costs usually associated with it. Instead, it provides the same divisibility, fungibility and tradability as it would to any digital asset, like Bitcoin.
Are there fees associated with purchasing ABTs?
As the token issuer, Symbridge will not charge you. However, investors will be responsible for trading fees according to their chosen exchange’s fee schedule and any custodial fees they might have.
