Asset-Backed Tokens (ABTs)

One of the biggest differentiators of the Symbridge platform is our unique ability to offer asset-backed tokens or ABTs on our exchange.

Unlike most cryptocurrencies, ABTs are blockchain-powered tokenized assets that are backed by actual collateral. That collateral can be virtually anything—from real estate and artwork to commodities. This allows for significantly more control over your portfolio and a lower barrier to entry compared to traditional exchanges.

Symbridge’s ABTs are backed by precious metals. These precious metals are vital for the proper functioning of electronic components like circuit boards, computer chips, hard drives, capacitors, batteries and more.

Palladium

This precious metal is found in virtually every kind of electronic device today. It’s also used in automobiles, dentistry, medicine, groundwater treatment, and more. While it’s only found in minute quantities in each individual electronic component, the sheer volume of products made with it means palladium is and will continue to be in high demand. It’s most commonly used for multi-layer ceramic (chip) capacitors (MLCCs).

Gold

Known for its beauty, durability, malleability, and unique conduction properties, gold is used in a wide variety of devices, instruments, and even medicines. Gold also has a history of being less affected by the laws of supply and demand since above-ground, hoarded gold vastly outweighs the new mine supply. This makes it a unique investment opportunity.

Nickel

Highly useful for industrial purposes, nickel is strong, ductile, magnetic, and corrosion-resistant. Its high value comes mostly from its ability to strengthen other metals by creating nickel-based alloys like stainless steel. However, it’s also used in plenty of other modern applications like electronics.

Copper

This soft, pliable, and especially conductive metal is used in a wide variety of industries and fields. However, copper isn’t widely viewed as a store of value, making it less impacted by speculative price movements. Since it’s used in a diverse array of industries, it can be a good barometer for the overall strength of the global economy.

Cryptocurrencies

Cryptocurrencies are the foundation of decentralized finance of “DeFi.” They’re also some of the most exciting digital assets available today.

Unlike ABTs, cryptocurrencies typically are not backed by any physical assets. Their value is influenced by the scarcity determined by its overall supply. Like precious metals, many coins have a finite supply that can be mined. And the fewer coins there are available, the higher their price is likely going to be.
